The player doesn't seem to display Arabic characters properly, e.g. http://www.archive.org/details/kitab_adab_dunya_1107_librivox

Can anything be done about this?

Regards,

The new audio player had been working fine with Thai language for several months, until this week that I found out the Thai titles on each track does not display properly. The only way to make it display the Thai title is by switching to the old player. My constraint is the embeded code of the player comes in only the new player format, no matter if I switch it back to the old player or not. http://www.archive.org/details/DhammaTalksByDr.SanongVorraUrai

Could archive.org look into this?

was about to reply "i already fixed it yesterday" 8-)
but then realized indeed there was an issue.

the issue was we are trimming at 36 chars, length-wise, but for multi-byte encoded chars, the length as off since I wasn't using a UTF-8 encoding aware
set of trimming operations.

i just fixed that and pushed it live (so now your item looks nice again, phew!)
sorry about the inconvenience and delay!

The buddhist communities in Thailand and USA who access my temple's website would appreciate your support. Thanks again.

on just tracks #6 and #24?
if they had some whitespace mixed in there somewhere, we could show more for those titles, etc..

Proper display of characters is just another sacrifice on the altar of Almighty (or mighty lame) Flowplayer.
